Presenting the Spring 2007 Arbitron book

For Chicago and Milwaukee. Random thoughts: -WGCI-FM, WVAZ, and WPWX all are down from last book. The Howard McGee debacle at WGCI certainly won’t help them as they might not see No.1 for a very long time. – WBBM-FM got pummeled by WKSC-FM (Kiss), falling out of the top 10 and recording their worst numbers since 1982. Time for some […]

Bob Sirott’s take on Howard McGee

At the end of the 4:30 p.m. newscast on WMAQ-TV yesterday, Bob Sirott (a former DJ himself) addressed the firing of Howard McGee at WGCI during his One More Thing segment and talked about radio’s problems in Chicago, especially when it comes to replacing local talent with out-of-town syndicated programming. Though he missed two items (Harvey’s show is based in […]

Fox at TCA

It’s Fox’s turn at the mic at TCA press tour. Among the nuggets: – The first of Fox’s new fall lineup to roll out will be on August 30 with the season premiere of Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? with Cops and America’s Most Wanted following on Sept. 8 and Kitchen Nightmares on Sept. 13. – Fox has […]

So, this is where CBS got the idea for "Kid Nation"

Yesterday’s episode of South Park that aired in syndication: “The Wacky Molestation Adventure”, which originally aired on Comedy Central on December 13, 2000, where the kids in South Park got the parents arrested for molestation, and they ran the town. Doesn’t this make a great reality show, minus the molestation? Wait a minute… (BTW, this is our 500th post! Yay!)

"Pirate Master" walks the plank

This is not a repost of an earlier item, but CBS finally got rid of Goober and the Ghost Chasers, err… I mean, Pirate Master, dumping it with five episodes to go… And no, it’s not going to Saturday mornings (where ABC’s disposed sitcom Ailens in the Family once ended up…)

Drew Carey named host of "Price is Right"

Yep, that’s right. CBS just got up and gave it to him. That’s how things work in Hollywood. Though yours truly thought that Todd Newton would be a better choice, Drew just might fit the bill. Then again, what do I know? At least it’s not Ozzie Guillen (LOL).

WWE ratings down

And the suits say it’s not related to Chris Benoit’s death. Maybe it’s because it jumped the shark 40 times (McMahon’s “death”, for example), viewers got tired of all the crap. Wish the audience felt the same about equal 40-time shark jumper Grey’s Anatomy….

Death March with Cocktails

It’s Tim Goodman from the San Francisco Chronicle blogging at the TCA press tour, with a title more suited for blogging at Oakland Raiders home games. According to him (and like the Raiders), the fall TV lineup isn’t that much more exciting.

More from the CW at TCA

(One more item before we’re out of here for the weekend) More from the CW: – The winner of that Pussycat Dolls contest show last spring (Asia Nitollano) has turned down the offer to join the group and has decided to launch a solo career. As Nelson Muntz would say, “Ha, Ha!” – TV critics lambasted the Gossip Girl pilot, […]

Senate passes indecency bill

Too bad that bill didn’t save this woman’s life at 104th and Morgan in Chicago last night. And who says Congress has its priorities straight? To them, it’s a greater crime to say f*** on the air than someone getting shot and/or killed in the ‘hood. Hasn’t Blair Holt’s family suffered enough?

TCA: CW takes its turn at the mic

Here are the CW’s premiere dates for its new and returning series for the 2007-08 season. And president Dawn Ostroff says that she’s not concerned about the Emmy snub: “[It] won’t make a big difference to our viewers.” Um…. what viewers?

Chicago next stop for FCC public hearings

The FCC will hold its fifth public hearing on media-ownership issues right here in Chicago on September 20. The meetings are being held to get input from the public regarding media-ownership issues. No word yet on where the hearing will be held, so stay tuned here to the T Dog Media Blog for more information as it comes available. And […]

Howard McGee finally exits WGCI

As reported here and in Feder’s column on July 6, Howard McGee is out at WGCI-FM as morning man and will be replaced by Steve Harvey’s syndicated program effective August 1 (Yes, the program starts on a Wednesday, in the middle of the week.) McGee’s last program was today. Also out are Nikki Woods and executive producer Art Porter. Leon […]

Amy Jacobson settles with WMAQ-TV

Amy Jacobson, who was caught in the Stebic household two weeks ago tomorrow (thanks to a videotape shot by WBBM-TV) has settled with her former employers, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. She had four months to go on her contract. She also may be pursing legal action against WBBM, who videotaped her without consent. In that interview with the Sun-Times, […]

Emmy nominations

The Sorpranos lead with 15 nominations. Here’s a partial list, and hopefully, we’ll post the complete list later today. UPDATE: Here’s Maureen Ryan’s take on the Emmy nominations, and yes, they screwed up again, as always. The new broadcast networks, for the most part, got shut out – The CW received only one and MyNetworkTV didn’t receive any (really, that […]
