"Gossip Girl", "Deal" tank

Despite all the hoopla – for Gossip Girl and its racy ads and pulling the program from the Internet, and for Deal for having President Bush appear – neither did well with Girl pulling in only 2.5 million viewers (even pulling in fewer viewers than MTV’s The Hills, which drew a little over 4 million) and Deal matching a season […]

CW picks up six shows

If you’re a fan of America’s Next Top Model, Everybody Hates Chris, Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, Smallville, and Supernatural – good news – your show has been picked up for next season, though Top Model and Chris were renewed ahead of time. Left off the list (for now) are Reaper, The Game, and Aliens in America. Gone are WWE […]

CW reshuffles the deck

The CW is finally out with its midseason schedule, which you can access here. Among the changes: – Gossip Girl moves to Monday at 7 (CT) with the Pussycat Dolls’ reality show at 8. – The CW comedies move to Sunday (good luck, they’ll need it) – Supernatural is being replaced by Reaper on Thursdays at 8, beginning February 28

The right team makes the difference

So much for the notion of viewers fleeing major sporting events… If you are the L.A. Lakers, New York Yankees, Dallas Cowboys, or the Boston Red Sox – it’s instant ratings gold. Game One of the Rockies-Red Sox World Series on Fox grabbed a 10.5 household overnight rating and a 5.8 in adults 18-49, up 61 percent in the demo […]

"Private", "Bionic" score

NBC’s Bionic Woman scored an upset over ABC’s Private Practice in the 18-49 demo, 5.5 to 5.1 (though Private drew more viewers, 14.24 to Bionic’s 13.59.) CBS’ Criminal Minds also was strong in the 8 p.m. (CT) time period, so that may be bad news for CW’s Gossip Girl and Fox’s Kitchen Nightmares, both turning in less than spectacular ratings […]

Kid Nation fianlly airs

And as of this writing, it’s still on the air (it actually did well in the ratings). But it was light on the ads. And to no one’s surprise, most critics hated the series. Meanwhile, Back to You and Kitchen Nightmares rocked in their debuts, but Gossip Girl tanked losing from its lead-in and underperforming from year-ago time period levels. […]

More from the CW at TCA

(One more item before we’re out of here for the weekend) More from the CW: – The winner of that Pussycat Dolls contest show last spring (Asia Nitollano) has turned down the offer to join the group and has decided to launch a solo career. As Nelson Muntz would say, “Ha, Ha!” – TV critics lambasted the Gossip Girl pilot, […]

Analysis on the new Fox and CW schedules

I decided to put the analysis of the Fox and CW schedules on this post instead of “burying” them after the announced fall schedules on separate posts. So here goes…. Fox: Because of post-season baseball and the return of American Idol and 24 in January, Fox’s schedule next season is separated into two parts, with an emphasis on midseason. The […]
