Ugly Betty in trouble?

The bloom may already be off the rose for Ugly Betty, which slipped in the household ratings and among adults 18-49 last night against Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader? on Fox. But perhaps the real question we should be asking is, how will this affect My Name Is Earl and The Office, two well-received shows that’s popular in […]

CBS Sports, YouTube to feel the madness

The channel presents game highlights, press conferences, CSTV material, and more. To see the channel, click here. (Don’t forget, CBS is streaming their games online as well. Go […]

You’re kidding. Right?

There is a sitcom in development at ABC that is based on – get this – The Geico Caveman. The copywriter behind those ads would also create and write the sitcom. Alright, which TV executive stepped into a time machine and went back to 1967 to get this inane idea? Next thing you know, The CW will develop a sitcom around […]

Are you smarter than a 5th grader?

Perhaps, but if you are dumber are a 5th grader, you’re already more than qualified to run the Blackhawks. (Click on the link, scroll down, and you’ll see a comment by yours truly pointing out a goof B&C made on that story regarding 5th grader facing Survivor.)

No more telenovelas on MyNetworkTV

To no one’s surprise, there will be no more scripted programming on MyNetworkTV, according to Greg Meidel, the newly-installed president of News Corp.’s MyNetworkTV. The humongous failure of the network’s nightly soap operas are being replaced, and now will focus on unscripted reality projects. CBS, YouTube fail to come to agreement

Another setback for YouTube: CBS and Google-owned YouTube have failed to come to an agreement over an extension of an existing deal that would allow clips of the company’s shows to be streamed on the popular video-sharing site. According to The Wall Street Journal, the disagreement was over how long the deal would be. This comes as big media companies […]

ABC in trouble?

While nobody would notice here in Chicago since everybody (except when American Idol is on) watches ABC 24/7, TV Week is reporting that ABC’s ratings nationally have dropped from first to third in thirty-five days. The network is now tied with NBC in the money demo (adults 18-49). While ABC’s core shows are still strong (though Grey’s Anatomy and Ugly […]

Good Survivor, Bad Survivor

Much like Chicago Bears QB Rex Grossman, many are wondering which Survivor will show up – Good Survivor – the one that’s a money demo powerhouse and a program that genterates plenty or buzz. Or it is Bad Survivor – a program that continues to fall in the ratings each time it premieres and erodes from tougher competition, including NBC’s […]

Touchtone Television becomes ABC Television Studio

In a move that will also likely mean the end of the Touchtone and Buena Vista names (as far as television is concerned,) The Walt Disney Co. has renamed its network TV unit ABC Television Studio and its Buena Vista Games video game unit to Disney Interactive Studios. This comes as Disney wants to streamline its media properties to fall […]

The deal includes CBS affiliates in Austin TX, Salt Lake City (and its satellite station), CW affiliates in Providence and West Palm Beach, along with two low-power stations in the latter market. Surprisingly, CBS did not sell […]

Here’s another event nobody cares about

Here’s another clueless organization that just can’t seem to get it right: The Miss America Pageant tanked on CMT Monday Night, drawing just 2.4 million viwers, compared to 3 million viewers last year. Like the NHL did with its All-Star game this year, Miss America moved its failing pageant to cable in 2006, and moved it to a weeknight against […]

New name, same old stuff

The “i” network, which changed from PAX two years ago, is changing its name again – to MyNetworkTV2! Actually, its changing its name to ION, named after the company who now controls the network. Many industry insiders have joked that the “i” in the “i” network stood for infomericals, referring to the high number of paid programs that air on […]
