Richard Milne exits WXRT

Longtime WXRT personality steps aside to care for ailing wife

As first reported by Robert Feder earlier this week, morning personality Richard Milne is exiting Triple A station WXRT-FM June 10 to care for his wife Charlene, who is suffering from frontotemporal dementia. She’s currently in hospice care where she’s been since April. 

For Milne, this marks an end of a 36-year career at WXRT, who is owned by Audacy. Milne moved into the morning position two years ago after management shifted Lin Brehmer to middays and released morning news anchor Mary Dixon, who is now at WBEZ. The move was not well-received by fans, but WXRT still ranks in the top ten in morning drive in the latest PPM report. Milne hinted in a e-mail to staffers he might return in a lesser capacity.

A replacement is expected to be named in the coming weeks.
