‘Dashing’ to afternoon drive: B96 hires new jock

Audacy lures radio personality away from The Mix

Rhythmic hits B96 (WBBM-FM) announced Thursday it has hired Jordan “Dash” Orman-Weiss away from The Mix to become the station’s new weekday afternoon personality effective next Thursday, June 29.

Dash replaces previous afternoon host Julia Lepidi at the Audacy-owned station, who shifts over to middays to fill the void left by the departure of Kenzie Kramer, who recently joined Cumulus Alternative Q101 in mornings

“When my mother would let us take control of the radio dial growing up, we would always spin it down to B96,” said Dash, who is a Chicago native. “It was and still is the cool station. To be from Chicago and now get an afternoon show on a station I’ve grown up loving…I’m living my dream. Under the leadership and talent that are [brand manager] Molly Cruz and [Audacy Chicago VP of programming and operations] Greg Solk, I know we can create an electric afternoon show listeners won’t want to miss!”

Dash moves over from Hubbard-owned Hot AC outlet The Mix (WTMX) after three years where we was nighttime personality and was also host of the station’s New Music Club. Beforehand, he worked at sister station WSHE-FM as on-air talent and producer and was social media manager for Second City.

The move comes as B96 cut back on current CHR hits and added more 1990s and 2000s rhythmic product to its playlist back in April as the adjustment hasn’t really moved the needle in the ratings. In the latest Nielsen PPM report, B96 finished 19th in the ratings with a 2.1 share, flat from last month and up slightly from two months ago. iHeartMeida’s WLIT continues to lead overall.
