Lin Brehmer returns to WXRT
Starting Monday, he’ll be on from 10-1
After taking time off for chemotherapy treatments, longtime WXRT radio personality Lin Brehmer announced Tuesday he was returning to the Audacy-owned Adult Album Alternative (Triple A) radio station beginning Monday, where he’ll work the 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. midday shift. The news was first reported by Radio Insight.
Brehmer stepped away from WXRT last July 15 after being diagnosed with prostate cancer. Even though he’s returning to the air, he will continue with treatment.
Beloved personality @LinBrehmer who has been medical sabbatical since July will return to the airwaves Monday Nov 28 at 10am. While Lin’s chemotherapy continues, he’s coming back to host weekdays 10am-1pm. Welcome back Lin, you were truly missed and we celebrate this milestone. pic.twitter.com/9QXziNmDeb

At the time of his departure, Brehmer said on WXRT’s website: “I have been fighting prostate cancer for several years. I have worked through various radiation treatments, biopsies, CT Scans, MRI’s and drug therapies. The cancer was caught early, treated early, but it has spread places one would rather it did not spread.”
But it looks like the treatments are working well enough for him to the airwaves, which is good news indeed.
A longtime veteran of WXRT, Brehmer started at WXRT in 1984 and hosted mornings from 1991 to 2020, before moving to middays. For the last four months, station personality Annalisa has filled in for him during Brehmer’s absence.
During the last ratings period, WXRT tied for sixth overall and finished third in the key 25-54 demo and tied for third in the 18-49 demo.
